    Hello All
I have just acquired a second hand britannia range model SI E9T SS.
When the right hand small oven is turned on it begins to heat up, but if you turn it off or the thermostat turns it off it trips the rcd.

On the large oven the rcd trips whenever it is turned on.
I have checked all the elements and they are all showing conductivity so I do not think they have failed.
There must be a leak to earth but not sure where to start looking.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks.

Conductivity means nothing. They need checking with an insulation tester

    Thanks Andy
I had just tested them with a multimeter to see if they had obviously burnt out.

I only know basics and do not know how to test for insulation.

Can I do this myself or do I need an engineer?

Do you think it is likely to be the element with these symptoms?

I am sure its not easy to tell, just hoping to be given some pointers.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

    Hi chris
    Almost certainly an element
It would pay to get a local engineer to look at it
