ParticipantThis beast is doing my head in. Cust replaced selector with marginal sucess, nothing heats (base, grill elements, but one fan element worked, yhe 2nd ddoesnt. Anyway i found a dodgy relay on pcb by terminal block. Orded 2 from rs and soldered in and now no heat from any element. Both relays replaced, botth are identical to old ones bar their supercesion no at the end of the code (finder 45.71.7.024.300 replaced by 45.71.7.024.310) so theory shouldnt be a prob but now wondering if cust wired up selector right, anyone got any ideas or wiring diagram? Please!

the relay board is just to stop the current from both elements from going through the stat
there is an input wire which powers the board to operate the relays and the board has a simple capacitor power supply to drop the voltage lower. check the relays you have fitted have a similar coil resistance as if its lower it may be drawing too much current for the simple supply
i assume you have not made a mistake connecting the board but its worth a check
find the input wires to the board and check its feeds a live from the stat

As far as im aware the relays are meant to be identical, but ill do some checking, with regards to the wiring up of that pcb, its pretty straight forward, 2 red braided insulation feeds from terminal box, one to each relay tag, the out relay tag goes to grill/rhs fan element, and on other relay feeds other fan element and base. Middle feeds i cant remember off hand but i photo’d it before i took themvoff so def back on the way they came off. Still would like to verify cust has. Not mixed up any wires on selector tho

thats the problem when you come into the middle of a job and someone has been playing
i dont know the wiring but reading between the lines there should be a live feed from the stat to activate the board. its neutral could well be coming direct from the mains block

ok dude will have another check. if any one still has a wiring diagram for the selector id really appreciate it if only so i can discount that from, the equasion. I guess its possible another comp on the pcbb failed, such as the litle inverter type thing ? also heres the specification of the pair of relays i used:

This is the spares manual, the last 2 pages have wiring diagrams.

joe many many thanks, going up tomorrow to double check and try a smeg-pcb if wiring isnt an issue. will let you know how i get on
