Luke warm dryer on hotpoint wdd960

Hey guys
I have a wdd960 hotpoint ultima that, when drying, gets Luke warm rather than hot and as a result sticks on 1 min to go almost indefinitely. I suspect the thermostat or element (although it does get warmish so leaning towards thermostat) no fault codes showing and washer working fine just the drying side. Also the drying motor/fan a little noisy. Doesn’t sound fatal so could be normal. Sounds a bit like the old washers that used a mechanical clock! Am I in the right track ? Can test the thermo but suspect it’s kind of working but not reaching correct temp. Does that sound possible? Cheers guys
