    I have a Miele Dynamic U1 Cat & Dog upright vacuum and it has two buttons on the handle; rectangular power button and a round carpet floor button. While using the other day, the carpet floor button popped off and I can’t get it back on, it won’t “clip” in place. There’s a white connector inside which appears to have “moved”. The power button is no longer working. It’s almost as though the cable connection has come loose.

    Are there any directions on how to take apart the handle so I can attempt to understand and possibly repair what has happened?

    from the picture i got from google search you will prob find its a complete handle
    had one similar with flex break on handle, tried but could not take apart, complete handle only, price we were quoted a few years ago was around £80

    give miele a ring and ask if it splits

    Thanks for the info Dave, unfortunately not what I wanted to hear, but I had my suspicions this might be the case.

    Assuming I was to get a replacement handle, do you know how to remove the handle from this vacuum? Googling has returned nothing, but I assume it should be possible.

    I remember when originally assembling the vacuum, it was hard work getting the handle to snap in place and required a fair bit of force to push it in, so I’m assuming there is a reverse of this process, but somewhere a “tab” will need to be unclipped to allow it to be pulled out.

    Can you post up the full model number please as U1 is a generic range number which is not recognised by Miele database.

    I believe the model number is 9840170.

    Yes that’s the one. Sadly no info on Miele listings for any of the U series which is unusual.

    Looking at the S7260 drawing the handle looks the same and yes as has already been mentioned it is a complete assembly at around £90.


    Looks like you may need to contact Miele to confirm 😉

    i think there is a hole at the rear that you push something in to release a catch to remove handle
    cant promise i am right long time since i have seen one

    when you got cleaner did you have to install handle ?

    @milleniumaire     – Sorry to hear that. Here is a creative idea (Just for more long term benefits), I would look into ‘3d printing’. They are now making Vacuum adapters with it like this one:

    Check if your local Uni and I’m sure they’ll be able to help you out. They now have one of these machines that can help you make spare parts and save in the long run.
