ParticipantHi,
I’m new to this forum but I was hoping there was someone out there who could help! I moved into my house last year and I think the kitchen had been done a couple of years prior to that… I have a Lamona HJA 3220 oven that’s built in and as of this week, it’s stopped heating correctly. I set the temperature at ~220°C and after about an hour, it’s only got to about 150°C! The highest I’ve managed to get it was ~170°C although it then drops and goes back up.The thermostat appears to be working because when I turn it down, the light goes out at the above temperatures but for some reason it cannot get higher. I thought it might be the seal but I’ve tried turning it and that didn’t solve the issue. There also doesn’t appear to be a large amount of heat escaping from around the edges. There is some being thrown from the top right and left but I think that is normal?
I’d really appreciate any advice as I don’t really know where to start with this one or what to check.
Thanks. in advance.

you may have the model wrong but from what you describe it sounds like the following
the oven you have is a convection oven so has no fan. when the oven is working they use the grill element plus another small element under the floor of the oven
if the floor element fails the oven fails to get to temp as it lacks powerDave

Correct but unusually the lower element is a double, shown here:
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/41020672 … se-element
With the upper heating and grill element being a single, shown here:
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/42802244 … ng-element
Which is odd, normally it’s the other way around but I’d imagine that if even one of the lower ones was kaput you’d get the symptoms described. Or for that matter the top one but you’d also have no grill if that were the case.

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, finally got round to fixing this!It was the lower bake element but not exactly how we expected. Yesterday I removed the oven from the kitchen unit and removed the rear and bottom covers, test heated the bake element and found that the centre loop wasn’t heating… Looked like I’d need to order a new element.

But then, I looked at the back and found there was a dent in the casing (Circled in red) and this had been causing heat to escape and eroded the connection (See below):

I popped to Maplin and bought a some new connectors, striped the wires and replaced. Sanded the erosion off the contacts and worked perfectly, better than before.
Thanks for your advice on this, saved me a lot of money… Think it cost me about £1.50 in the end.

I’ve just had a similar problem with a Diplomat ADP3220 where I found the inner coil wasn’t heating. I couldn’t see a problem with the connections but by moving the live connector from one push-on connection at the swith to the next door connection I got it to work.
I assume the switch is on its way out, but could I have caused any problems by connection the wire to the next-door switch?
Thanks.

Hi rich,
I too have the same Lamona HJA3220 oven and have recently had the bottom bake element replaced, unfortunately I didn’t see the guy take the element out but I did see him putting the oven back together, one thing that’s playing on mind is that when he put it back together he put the yellow insulation back direct onto the element itself, and then a flat sheet of metal and then finally putting the bottom panel back on.The guy assures me that he has put it back how he found it but I was just wondering if you could help put my mind at ease as im worried that the insulation is in the wrong place and scared that a fire is going to start, many thanks for your time.
