Hello there, my friend was about to throw away a Hoover Crystaljet model no.D7418 as it had been sitting around in his parents garage for years. He said he ‘thinks it doesn’t work but doesn’t know what the problem is’!

It looks in very good condition so I thought it would be worth a shot, I have much more faith in older white goods machines and this one seems to stand up to my logic as it seems very well built.

I got it home and connected it up and off it went, it filled no problem, rinsed, emptied, re filled and then after about 1 or two mins it stopped ( little red program light went out ) then after maybe 15 secs the red light came on again and off the machine went again. It did this over and over, after 5 or 6 cycles like this I manually advanced the timer to the end of the program. I’m thinking the machine should not do this and this is why it ended up in the garage?

Could this be the point the water is heated? Does this machine have some sort of internal cutout if a problem is detected?

    any help would be great.

    Re: Crystaljet stopping and starting

I see a lot of folk have looked at the post but no advice 😥 maybe I’m not being clear about the symptom so i’ll have another go.

    1. Fills normally.
    2. Rinses with cold water normally.
    3. Empties the rinse water normally.
    4. This is where it starts acting oddly, runs and then cuts out (red program light goes out) then starts again for a little while and cuts out again, it did this maybe 5 or 6 times before I thought their may be a problem so I finished the cycle by advancing the timer myself.

As I said the machine is new to me so I don’t know if it supposed to do this but it doesn’t seem right especially with the program light going on and off. I presume this is the point in the cycle the water starts to be heated so maybe it is connected to that?
