ParticipantHello
The washing machine is a little erratic. It is connected to both hot and cold feed. On occasion, it fills just from the cold feed rather than the usual initial cold to flush the powder followed by the hot. Sometimes the machine fills and empties at the same time. Additionally, the wool wash occasionally keeps running the pump after the machine is empty and with the door not automatically opening.
Anyone have any thoughts on any of these problems?

Check the thermistor connector and then the rest before you do anything else.

Is this a resistance check? how do I get access to the thermistor, please?

No, it’s to check that all the connections are good and that there’s no corrosion or detritus on the terminals.
When any machine starts doing whack-a-doodle stuff randomly then it’s often the electronics getting confused by errant readings so, it doesn’t know what to do and tries to fill in the blanks if you will. The logic cannot interpret the readings in effect, tries to compensate, usually gets it wrong.
What you describe is several different elements all working randomly with the only common component as such being the main control board however, they are very robust and rarely fail and if they do, it tends to be pretty obvious.
So, that would point in the direction of something giving it duff readings causing it to do random stuff.
Often spotting such things is more of an experience thing I’m afraid or, blind luck. And, very often people will just assume that the control board is kaput, replace it and as you might expect, get the same results after doing so.
Fine to try if you’ve a bunch of parts you can swap in and out, not so much fun when you’re paying for them.

Many thanks for that, I’ll give it a try

Is this the thermistor? It seems to lead to the RH side of the control panel. If so, how do I get access to the control panel internals, please?

If it was on the underside of the tank above the motor then yes.

Thanks – it seems to lead to the RH side of the control panel. How do I remove the panel fascia, please?

Carefully or you’ll bust the clips.
Tip it forward from the top slightly to get it off IIRC.

I think I need to call in the professionals. Can anyone recommend someone who knows this machine in the London area, please?
