ParticipantI have a Creda integrated dishwasher – model 47918.
Very recently it has started playing up – the “remaining time” seems to have gone up to 99 and the cycle just runs and runs. It does not appear to be any different to normal cycles other than it just keeps washing – it drains ok, and it fills with water at the normal speed. I wonder if it is the heater – but am not sure how to find out? Even the “quick” cycle takes forever.
Any thoughts.
If the worst comes to the worst, can anyone recommend a cheap replacement – either a full size integrated or one with a silver / stainless front?
this is my first post – so not sure if this is right forum.

Quick way to check if it’s heating is to wait about 10 minutes after you hear the “thunk” of the dispenser opening – then switch off and open the door! Steam should rise……….

Thanks for the tip – can you elaborate – what “thunk”?
I thought it only heated up at the end of the cycle – is the thunk you are referring to, at the very beginning or of the cycle or when?

He means the thunk of the dispenser flap opening, remember to close it first therefore! It usualy opens at the point where the heater cuts in (it may do a cold pre wash first-depending on programme) give it about 5 mins after the thunk and open the door, the water should feel warm at least.

The dispenser flap has been broken for some time. (the clip to keep it shut broke some time ago, so I took the spring mechanism off so that the tablet did not keep falling out). It seemed to work fine having the flap half open.
Could this be part of the problem?

No, the dispenser not opening will have no bearing on the problem.
If you let the dishwasher run for 10-15 minutes after the start of the normal 65C cycle then open the door you should be able to tell if the element is heating as per Penguin’s post.
