ParticipantI’ve been googling about this. The machines seems to go through all the cycles properly – water appears to heat up too, it empties etc..
Just it stays on 1 minute – and the door won’t open! I did the diagnostic where you press the pre-wash and start button at the same time – and put the power on. The error which comes back is 06 – which i’m seeing is a problem where the door won’t lock/unlock.
Well – this is exactly what i’m seeing – the door won’t open at the end of the program.
Is there a way I can manually open it? I have the top and back covers off – but some instruction would be nice. I hope I don’t need to take the whole drum out?
Would this be a matter of replacing the door lock mechanism to resolve – or is the 06 code a red herring?
After a wash, I opened the drain at the bottom – no blockages, and only a couple of pints of water came out (normal I believe). So it is draining properly. I just want to get my clothes out 🙂
I also put it on the X settion on the dial and pressed start – nothing. Leaving it off overnight – still can’t open the thing.
Thanks!

OK after some fiddling and googling, I removed the hose from the pressure switch blew into that several times. It seemed ok, but can’t be sure if there was not a blockage.
I also blew into the pressure switch itself – in and out and I heard the switch activate.
I switched the machine on and off again, set the dial to X, reset, and voila – I was able to open the machine.
At least my kids will have some clothes for school tomorrow 😀
If the pressure switch is broken – where can I find a new one? They seem to be scarce or discontinued – is there perhaps an equivalent from another model which will work?
I’m hoping it was just a blockage and my blowing fixed it. I have the machine on a test run at the moment to see if it is a permanent fix.
Thanks,

Ok, no such luck.
All cycles seem to complete properly, but at the end after draining – it sits at zero. Interestingly the error code when I do the test mode also shows 00 instead of 06.
What I have found, through trial and error, is that if I switch the machine off and back on again, and give the area of the lock a wallop with the palm of my hand, it opens up. The wallop technique is not foolproof though – it may take several cycles of the above to complete.
I’m starting to suspect it is perhaps the lock mechanism?
Any suggestions appreciated – I see these lock mechanisms are still available to purchase – how hard is it to replace?

I’ve ordered a lock mechanism spare.
If this doesn’t work – can anyone give any other idead of what to check/try?

An earth fault on the heater can cause door unlock problems. Whilst your checking that make sure the pressure vessel isn’t blocked.
Power off of course!!

What is the best way to check the heater? I have a multimeter.
And which is the pressure vessel?

You need an insulation tester. The pressure vessel is the part that the pressure tube leads down to.

What Ãs the recommended way of disabling the latch and opening the door if it stuck?

Ok, so the lock mech was changed – and it’s all fixed.
One thing to note – the Bosch original part I bought from UK Whitegoods looks nothing like what I pulled out of the machine when I replaced it. In fact the compatible pare on the UK Whitegoods store looks identical. As far as I know, this part has never been replaced before.
All in all though – i’m happy it is fixed, though in retrospect, I would have got the cheaper compatible part.
