Wow, that’s a blast from the past. Must have taken hundreds of them to pieces over the years

But would you pay £750 for a 44 year old model that has never been used, probably totally seized up by now.
That said if the gearbox is free you would be very likely to get at least 10 years of heavy use out of it.

Just hit the watch button and I guarantee it never gets a single bid. The guy wants 250 quid as a starting bid which proves he lives on another planet than ours.

A c r a p machine with few redeeming features BUT, like you guys, I fixed 100’s of them in my time so I appreciate the brand as a money earner.

Well according to my sources a boxed 1469 twin tub went for £400 recently and a wrapped , unused 1509 made £500 on FleaBay so there is a good chance it will go higher.

Not such a poor machine either, fly back stat and breaking heater studs the main weakness areas but with the right control timer it was OK compared to the later two pole motor rubbish.

There is a small army of ‘nutcases’ out there who seem to relish refurbishing old appliances, forum user hotpointjames from Ireland is one such.

He is currently struggling to make one good top loader out of a 9605 with a bad oil leak and an older 15790. both of which have totally shot and badly corroded support tubes.

Try telling him he is wasting his time, no chance. 😆

How many times did you have to condemn one of those for a crappy board, loved working on them, such a shame they
    Couldn’t keep them going

Apparently my Irish friend James informs that he knows who has purchased it, will be interesting to find out if it runs or is seized up. 8)

My very first washing machine after we got married was a 1504, ran it for 6 trouble free years until our daughter came along, new tumble dryer and front loader plus kitchen revamp. The 1504 was sold to a very good friend of mine, a local farmer who hammered it for another 15 years with only the usual wear and tear problems.

would advise them to remove the tripod before using, bound to be stuck to the carbon seal and will rip it out once it starts. Other than that cannot imagine any other issues with it being left.

No need to go to all that trouble Mark. Pushing the carbon bellows downwards is enough to ensure the two surfaces are free.
