ParticipantI bought a new dryer today and like an idiot I forgot to empty the water container on the second load and when I realised and came back to it the cycle had already finished and there was water all over the floor. Does this mean it is broken??? And now has the clean condenser light on when the condenser has only just been cleaned today. I have taken the big filter out of the bottom and left it to try before I try it again but I’m just wondering if there was anything else I can do to prevent it from breaking on me or if that’s just it now???
Thankyou.April 7, 2015 at 7:39 am #426320iadom

If you forget to empty the water then a float switch in the pump chamber ‘should’ stop the dryer from operating until you have emptied the water. It should not flood onto the floor.
You shouldn’t really be needing to clean the condenser after only two or three cycles.Sounds like it is faulty so back to the shop.

It worked amazingly well the first time, my old one did this too and it messed up after I forgot to change the water so I’m worried this one is going to now, as well. I can’t take it back because I didn’t buy it from a shop I bought it from somebody and it was absolutely fine. Like I said, it was fine up until I forgot to empty the water, can I please have an answer on how to ensure that I haven’t broken it fully.
Thanks.April 7, 2015 at 8:01 am #426322plum_ple

And also there were no lights on up until then, the clean condenser light only came on after I’d forgotten to change the water.

Not easy to do that, saying it was ‘new’ when in fact it was second hand and ‘used’ doesn’t help. 😉
Either way it should not flood onto the floor so it does need some attention, the float chamber may be clogged, the channel from the back of the condenser to the float chamber could be blocked etc.

It was ‘new’ to me, and it also worked like ‘new’ when I got it.
Okay, I’ll check them, thankyou. Anything else that I should be checking afterwards? Is there any chance it could have affected the electricals at all, and how would I know if it has?

You should get error messages given by a series of flashing lights if there is a fault, the very back of the condenser chamber may a good clean out, you have to reach right back inside and make sure all the channels at the very back are clear.
You may also have a pump float fault.
