I have a SMEG SIHP294S induction cooktop. It was a new factory second but it appears not to be identifying a pan. I’ve gone through the configuration procedure and I am using a large cast iron fry pan. Have also tried a stainless flat bottom pan.
Everything else works on the unit and there are no error codes. The configuration procedure works up to the point that if it looks for the pan but it simply doesn’t identify a pan on the cooker unit.
I’m assuming there is a fault. What I would like to know is if the fault can be narrowed down to a single component or is it possible three could be a number of possibilities to cause this type of problem?

It’s cast iron Andy and, as you know, all ferrus metal cookware is suitable and should operate. Whereas copper, pure stainless steel, aluminium and glass pans won’t.
If however that cast iron pan is too small for the cooking zone then it won’t work.
It’s all pan areas that won’t identify. All four on the cooktop try to sense the pan but come up with nothing. It’s a 12″ fry pan so I doubt the pan is the issue.
Really would like to narrow down the problem. cheers.
