    Hi

    Our fridge freezer started to randomly defrost and no longer cools/freezes consistently. The thermostatic control is digital 1-7 but changing it makes no difference; there is no sound of anything kicking in however the machine is constantly on with air flowing. The radiator panel is under the machine and yesterday, before it appeared to finally fail, it was blasting out extremely hot air. Since then the air being expelled has been ambient but has just now changed to warm (and the freezer cooling although it is too early to tell if it is going to freeze) after I checked the effect of changing the settings above. Previous changes did not make any difference.


    Also the local engineer search for American Fridge Freezer does not work for Maytag or Whirlpool. What would be the best way of finding a reputable engineer?

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Just to add that the freezer has frozen overnight. I would prefer to fix this myself but have no electrical repair experience and am realistic about my capabilities.
