Hi, Hotpoint FDW80 will commence a program then abort fairly shortly with code AL10. It takes on water and pumps this out when the error code comes up, the inside of the machine doesn’t even get wet.
The mains water inlet has been plumbed to ‘hot’ feed since new, but I tried cold feed as well.
Disconnected the heater and resistance measures as 26 ohms.
What else is there that’s easy to test?
Heating thermostat? – not sure where to look for this.
The element is wired in series with what looks like a brown round connector block with a rubber hose that disappears up the side. Not sure what this is/does, but presumably being electrically in series it acts to switch the heating circuit?
I know the control PCB’s are flakey on these machines. I have an electronics background and the board seems ok albeit a terrible design (in a previous episode I fixed the machine by replacing a triac on the board).
Background: The machine has been standing out of service for a while (since the display went blank). I tried it again recently and it came back to life after the On/Off key was held pushed :?.
