    Hi all,
my (nearly ten year old) samsung side by side RS60KJSM S/N:211042BL300086K has started to freeze up a few weeks ago.
I defrosted the fridge manually and checked the:
    – main heater: 450 Ohm
    – drain heater. 2 kOhm
    – the thermo fuse: continuity
    – the temperature sensor: approx. 3.5 kOhm at a temperature of 36° Celsius. Changing the temperature causes changes in the value of the sensor. Seems ok for me.

The defrost unit should work. But within two weeks the fan starts to make noise and ice has built up around the evaporator.
    What´s wrong with this fridge?
I have heard from a guy who had problems with his compressor. His problem was a damaged relay (costs 10€). Maybe my problem is also deeper in the electronic.
As my next step I´d like to check if i can start the heater manually and check the output at the connection. But therefore i need access to the main service menu and an idea how to navigate there.
    Help is very welcome.
    cheers Uwe

    Hi

It will more likely require a replacement evaporator cover,At the same time it is advisable
To change the defrost heater and also the defrost sensor.

Re: Samsung RS60 KJSM freezing up

    Hi Bryan
thx for reply. I´ve learned that Samsung fridges which were built between 2005 and 2006 have an issue with their defrost function. I´ve checked the Samsung website and yes my fridge is one of them. They will send an engineer to fix that problem (for free 🙂 ). Maybe that´s it for me and my fridge.
    cheers Uwe
