ParticipantHello,
My Hotpoint FFAA52 Fridge Freezer has stopped cooling. There is power going to it and the green light at the front top left next to the temperature control knob is on. However neither the fridge or freezer are cooling, the compressor isn’t running and there is no noise at all. Also the fridge interior light isn’t coming on when I open the fridge door. The light has previously been flickering so I’m not sure if this is related to the current problem or not.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I’m hoping it’s not the compressor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

there are a few things it could be
first put you hand on the compressor and see if its warm
if yes there is power going to it therfore fault could be
1 compressor failure
2 some compressors are capacitor start some are relay and these failif no
circuit board or poss ntc (thermistor which is the temp sensor). but i think if there is a fast freeze button it overrides thermistor but uncertain of thatmy bet would be on the board

Thanks Dave,
I have checked the compressor and it’s cold.
There is a Fast Freeze switch but when i press it nothing happens so if that is supposed to override the thermistor i’m guessing that rules out a faulty thermistor?Does this all suggest it’s the board? Do you have any idea where the board would be?
Thanks again for the help

dont repair many fridges but where the lights and temp knob is normally the board
board part number should be C00265143 but double check before you order in case there is more than 1 board for this model
you could also try

Thanks for the help, it does appear to be the control board.
I had to take the fridge door off to remove the panel containing the temperature control knob and the control board was behind that. Here is a picture of the back of the board:
And a close up:
This is the front of the board:
Do you think this looks repairable or should i just buy a new board? The part number you gave me seems to be correct thanks.
Thank you for the help in finding the fault

it is obvious something has pulled a lot of current. fitting a new board would only result in the same thing happening. you have to find the reason.
on the second pic something is connected to the connection where the track is damaged. you need to find out what that is first
you may be able to resurect the board by replacing the damaged tracks by wires and soldering them to the componetsDave

Sorry it’s been a while – I haven’t had time to investigate further so I bought a 2nd hand mini fridge freezer to use until I can hopefully get this one fixed.I have checked the connector which attaches to the damaged track and using a continuity test on my multimeter it shows that it connects to a terminal on the compressor. It’s a blue wire.
There is also a start capacitor that connects to this terminal and another terminal on the compressor. Could a faulty start capacitor be causing the problems?
Here is a photo of the connector that was attached to the damaged track on the board.
Thanks for the help.

this where my lack of info stops me but from what you say it sounds like the compressor went pop or the circuit board got wet. if its the compressor then its scrap
