ParticipantHi All
I have this american side by side fridge freezer and after a power cut yesterday, the freezer is no longer freezing. It’s cool for some things, but the ice cream has melted.
Any ideas?
I’ve already hovered around the vents to clear any fluff znd ememptied it bar the ice creams and lollies. This thing is only 5 years old and out of guarantee!
Thanks

Check inside the freezer to see if there is any sign the rear panel has frost on it.
It may not have defrosted itself fully and you may need to turn it of for 48 hours to fully defrost it.

Thanks Bob. No visible signs of frost as it is nearly empty now besides the ice lollies – everything else I had to throw. See attached picture. I will try switch off at the weekend as we have too much in the fridge part at the moment to eat before we can switch off for two days.
Is there anything else I can try that is quicker maybe?
Thanks again

Is there a way I can take the back cover inside the fridge out to check for frost?

Update … After further investigation, I opened the light cover and low and behold, there is frost!!! Take a look at the he attached.
Begs the question though, how does a first free freezer get frost all over it and after defrosting, will it happen again?
Thanks Again

If you had a power cut then it may have missed a defrost cycle and it has frozen to fool the sensor.
If it builds up frost again in 2 to 3 weeks then you will have a problem with the defrost heater or sensor or thermal fuse for the defrost heater.
Defrost it for 48 hours with the doors open and it may be OK.

Gutted!!!
I’ve defrosted fully for 48hrs, not much water came out of the back drain, maybe two cupfuls. While defrosting, I could hear ice dropping so was expecting more unless it is in there somewhere else?
Anyway, I switched it back on this morning and it has been on for 4 hours and still not freezing unfortunately. Even tried fast freeze about an hour ago, but no joy.
Any ideas what to try now?
Thanks again

Hi All
I attach pictures of the inside of the freezer opened up and also the electronics cs panel on top. No frost and the fuses I have put a Meter across and re not blown.
Also, the compressor does come on as I can hear it kick in.
Any ideas before I make the call to GT it repaired by a shop? I’ve already been quoted a £25 call out fee with a further £65 to fix plus the cost of the parts!!!
Help please.
Many thanks
