    Good morning all,

A customer has contacted me to let me know she has been monitoring her fan oven, and it is heating some 20 degrees c higher than set… verified by thermometer.

I have confirmed that the thermostat is probably faulty, but would like to be sure, as it is a dual phial type costing nearly £100

Could anything else by causing this problem?

The oven generally, and door seals are in very good condition… I just wonder if these ovens have a control module, as I don’t have much experience on range ovens.

    Regards,

    No control module.

You’ll have a 10-15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} deviation on the stat usually anyway so it’s probably not that far off the mark.

I’d explain that (as I have done in the past to customers) that you will more than happily change it for them of course but you can’t guarantee that it would be any better than as is.

Given that it’s them that’s paying for it, it’s their shout on whether they want to stump up but it gives you and out if it doesn’t solve the issue.

Or, they compensate for it in use as most people do. 😉

    K.

Thank you so much for your sensible advice.

I’ll remember the thermostat deviation for future reference.

    Thanks again,

The problem is everyone thinks they are Gordon Ramsey
The only way to get a true temp is to use a K Type probe not one of the thermometers they get from tesco,Lakeland etc.
