I have always had no problem with non genuine capacitors but the latest ones I have received from both Masterpart and Qualtex are completely rubbish and I have had to go back and replace them with genuine parts every time.
Just a heads up folks but they are the ones that have “LAST ONE” printed on the side of them and look like this;

Out of interest, are these capacitors fitted to tumble dryer or dishwasher motors? How long are they lasting?
I’ve noticed in the last few years that a lot of the genuine factory fitted tumble dryer capacitors seem to deteriorate rapidly, often halving their capacity in only 2 to 3 years of use. Capacitor brands such as Ducati, a favourite of Zanussi, used to last happily for 10 years or more, but now seem to fade as fast as any.
They certainly don’t meet the claimed lifespan printed on them. But it keeps us in business.

Hi,
these capacitors seem to have about a two month life span, they are available in all sizes.
Annoying going back to replace one on a Hoover condenser dryer as they can take a while to fit!!

Replaced a Hoover condenser one today. Its a 2 minute job if you have nimble fingers, just remove the front fan

I can’t quite figure out how you managed that. Do the newer machines allow you to dismantle the fan housing without removing the front panel?

yes go in through the fan housing. mind you 2 minutes is a bit of an exaggeration. more like 15.

Ok I admit a little exaggeration, 15 mins about right. Once fan is removed and you have figured how to twist the fan housing in order to pull it out..

I’ve had two of this type go down after about two weeks and they were both on Hoover/Candy dryers. Just put it down as a coincidence but its very interesting you mentioning it. Thats news to me on replacing it through the front fan. I’ll give that a go next time!!

I have an epidemic of capacitor failures after fitting non genuine capacitors.
I get them from qualtex and connect but couldnt work out where the bad ones were coming from.
It seems to be DOMOPART capacitors from connect which are the worse.Re: rubbish non genuine dryer capacitors
Replaced a capacitor in a Hoover dryer lately. The dryer was only a year and a half old. So the genuine factory ones aren’t great either.

out of curiosity, what are the typical signs of capacitor failures on Hoover dryers? I do get quite a few of them, mainly refusing to start but I have come across that appears to be weak turning that looks like motor failure. I can’t help wondering if I have mis diagnosed as motor failure when a capacitor would do also it can be easily down to relay but that is more common for Hotpoint rather than Hoover. I don’t keep a stock of it in my van as there are too many varieties out there. But with the Hoover, I might keep a few in stock.

Same as any other make of dryer…..the motor won’t turn!
It’s a common or garden 8uf capacitor. You should always carry a couple on your van. Along with a couple of 4uf, 7uf, 12.5uf and 16uf and your ready for most eventualities.
As for misdiagnosing, rather than fitting a new motor, try a capacitor first.
