ParticipantHello There,
I’m new to this forum. I’ve a Hotpoint WMT05 on
which the ‘door locked’ light was flashing. I
replaced the door interlock and door handle with
no joy. I then got a control PCB off ebay, which
fits, and the door now locks ok, but the PCB needs
programmed. I gather this is pretty straight forward
if you have the instructions. but I can’t find them
anywhere. Can anyone provide them or tell me wuere I
can find them?
Thanks.June 2, 2015 at 9:15 pm #427840iadom

Do you have any idea which model this 2nd hand pcb came from?
There are at least four different pcb’s for the whole of the WMA based machines, they all have the same connections but they are not interchangable. The correct pcb for your machine will fit around 21 different models but if the one you have is one of the other three it will not programme correctly.

Hi ladom,
Thanks for the reply. No, I don’t know which model it came from. I could get the correct part, with instructions, from Hotpoint, but they’re asking £100 for it and given the machine is far from new,
I’d be better buying a new one. Since the machine is for the dump if this doesn’t work, I’d be willing to risk programming it anyway, if I knew how.
I only use the ‘quick wash’ and ‘fast spin’. Is it worth trying
the dial on random letters and seeing which one, if any, gives the program I want?
Thanks.June 3, 2015 at 9:45 am #427842iadom

Do any of the numbers on the labels of either pcb match up?
You cant do any harm to the rest of machine by trying it without programming but in theory could end up with incorrect wash temps etc.
If it is the wrong pcb and given that the one you have has at best a 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} chance of being the correct one then trying to programme it using the correct settings for a WMT05 would be a waste of time TBH.
Another alternative is to send the original pcb to EMW who will repair and return correctly programmed.
If the drum bearings are sound then the machine should be good for a few more years yet.

HI There, And thanks again for the reply. I’ll try a couple of washes at random setting and see what happens. Good to know it won’t damage the rest of the machine. If I don’t hit on a setting that will give me a quick wash I’ll send the original board to EMW as you suggest.
Do you have a ball park figure for the cost?
Thanks again, G.June 4, 2015 at 5:32 pm #427844iadom

Hi Ladom,
I took your advice and got a refurb board from EMW. They were very good and my machine is now working good as new. Total cost of about
£70. Thanks again for your help. -
