ParticipantYes I know you are going to say its the heating element.
But………..I filled it with hot water and run the machine and it worked fine and dried the dishes.
I re ran it from the cold feed as it should be and it runs fine, heating the water and drying the dishes. Then a few days later it runs with cold water and doesn’t dry the dishes.
Yes I know you are going to say it could be the £100 PCB so we wont go there!
But could it be the thermostat? Could this work intermittently?
Could the hot (almost boiling) watter I add re set it or unjam it in some way or do they either work or not?If it is what is the part number for my DF62 machine?

Which £100 pcb is that?
This is a Bosch based machine that has no electronics in it, it is controlled by a timer.
The thermostats are fairly reliable and rarely cause a no heat fault. It could be the heater or the control timer, may also be broken wiring inside the door wiring harness near the left hand hinge, poor water flow preventing heater from being energised etc.

I saw the PCB suggestion on another answer for a dishwasher with the same problem as mine.
Waterflow not fast enough may be something to look at as I previously (3 years ago) had no water coming in at all until I cleaned the valve.
Would/could the heater work intermittently?
I thought it would either be broken or working like a kettle element.Control timer goes round OK. If its a new one of those it will be a new dishwasher. It has been a good one 😀 lasted over 10 years with just one other issue.
Thanks for the tip about the wiring. It could be that opening the door means the wire disconnects and re connects. It is the only thing that changes wash to wash.

I meant poor water flow from the main circulation pump. If the flow is low then the heater will not function correctly. The wiring doesn’t so much disconnect as break, if the broken wire ends are touching it is possible to get intermittent heat faults. It is also possible for the contacts within the control timer that switch the heater on to burn out or become weak.
It’s got to be a lot more than 10 years old . 😉

Thanks
I’ll check t the door wiring if it happens again.
It seems to be working just fine again now for the moment! -
