    hi I have error E40 on Electrolux washing machine and door interlock switch is black so I guess I need a new one. The bit going into the interlock switch is also black. Does anyone know what that part is called so I can buy that part too?

    Bear in mind that E40 is only the user facing error code, there are actually 6 or 7 ‘E40’ codes. running the diagnostics is the only way to be certain, not always the door lock itself.

    On that model it could also be the pin holding the catch in the door handle has dropped not allowing the catch to engage properly within the door lock.
