ParticipantHi
I replaced the motor on my 7 year old integrated Whirlpool about a year ago and it has been going sweetly ever since.
All of a sudden yesterday when starting a wash it drained as normal and then nothing for 10 seconds and threw up the 6 flash code which I believe is water valve/flow meter related?
My question is would the motor have gone already with no warning signs or is this definitely a valve/flow meter problem? Bearing in mind the age I wouldnt want to be spending big money.
Cheers
Mark

to check you need to take the left hand side of the dishwasher off
plug in and set prog
if the water is flowing in its the flow meter or broken wires in the door
if no water is going in suspect Valve , water tap off or hose kinked. or broken wires in the doorif the programmer is in the door always check for broken wires first. they break as the go from the door to the frame at the bottom. be carefull as there are a lot of wires the same colour and if you just pull them you could end up with more than one broken wire and not be able to teall which way round they go
Hope it helps

Cheers Dave
I actually had a fault a number of years ago (I can’t remember the exact fault but flow meter was suspected) which turned out to be a broken wire in the door and the engineer took off the plastic cover thing which they are housed in. It did seem like a very bad design which puts strain on the wires.
I will take off panel at the weekend and investigate further. Although from listening I don’t think I can hear any water entering.
If i need to replace a wire is there a specific type and what panels do i need/not need to remove?

normally you can pull the wire through enough to joint it
you need to remove door front and lower panel. look at where the wires go you will see the idea

It was indeed a broken wire (one of the thickish blue ones)and in fact the same one which had broken several years ago but in a different place. I took the wire out of the bunch and re-taped the rest back up again which gave plenty of loose wire and there was also a bit of give in the section from the door to enable me to solder the joint.
Thanks again
