KeymasterIn light of our flippered friends recent forray into multiple posts I decided to write this…
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … age&pid=82
Can you read, comment and let me know if any changes are needed please?
What I’ll do later is link that to Mark’s article on plugs and any others that you guys point out it should be linked to, that way I hope that people may read all of it!

ParticipantRe: Safety Information
It would make more sense to link it off the Pro Advice header, as with anything else deemed appropriate.

KeymasterYeah I want to link it in to all those kinds of things Chris so it’s “in your face” but not, if you know what I mean. Basically a high profile and I guess we could actually add your post content to it as well, never thought of that. 😕
Also, if you do an announcement you should “lock” the thread, then the tossers can’t post to the thread.
Whilst we’re on the subject…
What can we tidy up/amalgamate in the way of announcements within the public forums, or can we? Is it worth considering a forums solely for announcements advice with locked threads? Would anyone bother to read it?

I can change the Domestic Appliance Horror Stories back to a normal thread to give a bit of space at the top for a start as it is getting crowded at the top I agree.

I applaud the idea in giving as much information as possible to all parties using the site.(and my god there’s a bloody load of it for sure) but we have to make it not only easy informative reading but above all, concise. A seperate forum with all this locked advise may be the way to go rather than a minority of visitors finding this advise in the navigation bar?
I hate reading ‘the small print’ on any document and you guys know full well that only 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of customers actually RTFM so we have not got to go too overboard on this. I guess Ken is getting a little nervous also on behalf of UKW limited and its potential liability situation which is understandable.
How about new locked forum entitled “Handy tips & advice”

KeymasterIts really nothing to do with the limited company, it’s extremely well covvered fro us in the site T&C which I did nearly two years ago. 😉
I told you, I think long term.
What worries more is some muppet frying themselves and coming back on saying that due to us they got injured or worse. It also worries me that any one of us could be personally taken to task over some advice, given in good faith or not.
In due course (i.e. funds allowing) we will investigate insurance against such things coming back on UKW, but I doubt any insurer would look at indemnifing everyone as a blanket cover and, if they would, I’d hate to think what it’d cost!
The problem with another forum is that you have to get people to actually read the damn thing! I have another thought though but I don’t know just how feasable it is technically as it needs hard coding into the forums, therefore Trevor. But if I go down that path then the idea of linking all the pertinent articles becomes a lot more sensible.

KeymasterSuperb job Dave! That’s a lot tidier looking now and easier on the eyes.
