ParticipantHi, i have a Hotpoint WML560P/g/a/k. It was leaking water from the base and after taking off the top we could see that it was leaking from the water inlet. My friend removed this and we could see that white tape had been wound round the outlet that pokes out the back of the machine so it mustve leaked before. I got the washing machine when i bought the house, previous owner left it behind. So… my friend has taken away the inlet part to either get a new one or put a seal on the fitting again. However he didn’t take a photo of where the wires went!! There are blue and white wires that go together in one of the valves and blue and red wires that go in the other valve. One of the valves has a purple end that the wires go into and the other valve has a black end.
Does anyone know which colour valve end i should put the wires back into! Many thanks Deborah

In a word….no. 🙁
The wiring diagram does not give the colours of the wires or the small plugs and the valve solenoids can vary in colour. Also there are a few variations of this machine and the original valve is no longer available, there is a conversion kit that includes the top of the dispenser.
You would have to give us all of the numbers on the small label inside the door for us to identify.
Usually the length of the wires will give you some idea of which valves they fit onto but even if you get them wrong you cannot do any damage, all that will happen is that the detergent will go in at the wrong time, the fabric conditioner may also go in too soon. If that happens the just swap the connectors over.

okay well that’s not so bad! the numbers on the label inside the door are: 54511, 805160423 if that helps?

Unfortunately yours is the earlier model, it originally had a small extension piece glued to the end of the valve to allow an Indesit dispenser to fit inside a Hotpoint cabinet, this often leaked. This was superceded by longer dispenser top which includes the new valves. you will not be able to buy the original valve and a repair of same is very unlikely.
Part number is C00115441.

Many thanks! Just to confirm my options are to retape and refit or the part number you’ve given me is for a replacement part?

As I have already said, re taping or trying to reseal is very unlikely to be successful, that joint is under mains pressure. That part number is the longer dispenser top which includes the valves.
