ParticipantWow….
So our Miele washing machine was making a horrific clicking intermittently.
I had pulled the filters out a few times and checked round the drum…nothing.
Today, it came to a close. Dramatically.
During the spin, the clicking happened…..then it got loud…..then wet.
I immediately pulled the power and let the machine stop.
I cleaned the flood.
Pulled the machine apart and…..well….

Spot it?
Let me help

Curse of the deadly 2p.
Punched 3 holes in the outer drum ffs.Time to start stripping 🙁
Anyone know the cheapest place for an outer drum housing, rear part?Cheapest I see is around 100 quid.

Let’s hope it doesn’t suffer the same fate that your LG machine did.

You my friend, pass THE test
LOL, no…i was going to go on a desperate plea for answers prior to taking the machine apart, had planned on playing the “last month the Miele fridge, now this” line. I updated it when I made THE finding but forgot the name.
LG….correct.
Completely dismantled tonight. Quite easy actually.
Quick question, is it essential to replace the seal between the two halves of the outer drum with a new one or will the old one suffice?
Cheers

Silocone sealant will normally suffice

Fitting a new tub seal is the ideal solution. If re-using the old seal is your choice then we in the trade use Debor adhesive. Silicone sealant best avoided as, until it is left to dry for at least 12 hours, it can break down in direct contact with water.July 16, 2015 at 8:50 pm #428838Jinjur

Thanks gents…..ordered a new seal just to be safe.
Will just mean a short delay in re-assembly but i would rather only do it once
😛
