ParticipantThis one is getting on my nerves. Basically fills with water overflows on floor when switched off. It can do it sometimes during the day or when they get up next morning to a wet floor…
It’s not coming from the sink, hose is looped up ok and anyhow it has a flap inside the dishwasher to prevent back flow.
I replaced the inlet valve with a known good used one, then a new valve but the problem won’t go away…
There is great water pressure coming to the dishwasher also. Anyone else come across this? The only thing i can think of is that the water pressure drops at certain times especially during the night. I have said this to the customer but she ain’t having any of it , totally disagrees with me.. 😐

well why dont you ask here to turn water of after use just to see if the problem still there if it is then its back filling

If the water pressure is too high then it will force the valve open whether it is powered or not – may be worth taking a reading with one of these. Most valves are only rated for 10 bar so if it is close to or above that then it may be outside the design range of the valve (less water is used by people at night so the pressure tends to be slightly higher), if that is the case then the only real solution is fit a pressure reduction valve before the dishwasher.
As HotDog says you can eliminate the possibility of back fill entirely by seeing if the problem goes away after the water supply to the machine is turned off.

I did think of that pressure too high but adjusting the tap I could reduce it etc. Still does it,

Adjusting the tap will only reduce the dynamic pressure, it won’t adjust the static pressure.

So in otherwords the flow pressure is reduced when filling but when idle the ultimate pressure still builds up at the valve when not in use?July 22, 2015 at 7:29 am #429032Hollytree_Technical

Well i can safely say the high pressure is the problem. I took off the hose and lowered it in a bucket to see what kind of flow it had. Well all hell broke loose, the hose jumped out of the bucket i got soaked and there was water drops on the wall 15 foot away and into the next room. it was like a power washer!. Case closed LOL
