This website came highly recommended and there’s some great advice on here, but I haven’t been able to find the answers I’m looking for so hope someone may be able to help please.

I’ve owned a Sebo C3.1 cyclinder vacuum with a powerhead for the last 16 years and loved it. Sadly something has gone wrong and when you switch it on now it makes a hideous noise and starts to overheat immediately. I went straight to Sebo to look for a replacement, but am a bit disappointed by the options available under the new EU laws on power consumption.

The only models now available with a powerhead (which I want as I have both hard floors and carpets in my home) are the E3 Eco and D4 Eco. These are both 700W machines and I’m finding it very difficult to believe these will do as good a job as my current 1500W model. I know there isn’t a direct correlation between wattage and suction, and you only need enough suction (not maximum suction so it lifts your carpets off the floor!), but …

I saw a demo of the smaller E3 Eco the other day and it seemed OK, but when you’re used to more suction it’s hard to convince yourself that lower suction is doing the same job. The demo was of grey dirt on a grey carpet so difficult to be sure just how well it was picking up to be honest.

Does anyone have any comments/experience of the new 700w Sebo Eco models please?

Also does anyone have any other suggestions for new vacuums that I should consider please?

    Many thanks in advance

Sebo suction power is not compromised because of recent restrictive legislation on motor output power. Manufacturers were alerted on the regulations long before they came into effect and Sebo’s vacuums have been upgraded to provide sufficient suction power as a result. Many local suppliers are all too willing to demonstrate.

Thanks for your reply Martin. Unfortunately I haven’t had any luck with local retailers having these particular machines in store for demos. The local rep came in especially for me with the E3 Eco, but I have yet to see a D4 Eco.

    Hi

Sebo cleaners are the best you can currently get. Often used in large commercial areas like hospitals etc.

The D4 ECO is best in it’s class IMO and with the best energy efficiency it stands head and shoulders above it’s nearest rival which is probably Miele.

John Lewis partnership carry it http://www.johnlewis.com/sebo-d4-premiu … r/p1695925 Stock on display may vary from store to store, probably worth phoning your nearest one before you travel.

Thanks for that confirmation Don, it was what I needed to hear. I tried my local JL but they send direct from Sebo. Having had the rep come especially to a local store I feel duty bound to buy through them now, even though I could buy it cheaper and faster on Amazon. I shall support UK Whitegoods with my bag purchases though as this is a fabulous resource – so glad I found it.
    Thanks again for replying.

    I own both 700 watt K1 and a 1200 watt E1. The E1 is far more powerful.
