LEVER Brothers, manufacturers of famous household products such as Breeze, Lux and Lipton Tea, will soon be changing its name and logo.

Shawn Samad, corporate communications officer of Lever Brothers, told the Express this change was in process because the parent company, Unilever, aimed to bring all Unilever sub companies throughout the world under one umbrella and brand name.

Samad said the new name and logo of the Company had to be discussed by the Board and shareholders of the company and would be implemented by January 2005, the year in which Unilever celebrates its 75th anniversary.

Samad said the mission formed an integral part of Unilever 2010 strategy and the new Unilever brand and the building on the traditional strengths of the Unilever name is an expression of that vitality.

Antony Burgman, one of the chairmen of Unilever, stated that the new Unilever brand was a powerful symbol of their new vitality mission demonstrating what they stand accountable for, the difference they make on a daily basis to their consumers, their employees and the communities and environment in and around which they operated.

Burgman stated that the current Lever Brothers logo has been “reliable and distinguished” but it was not as open and friendly as it could have been and not enough to continue putting it on everything they made. He stated that the need for “vitality” promoted change.

Lever Brothers invited members of the media on wednesday to tour the factory located on 11 acres of land in Champ Fleurs to prove that Lever Brothers was committed to meeting the needs of the consumer even though change was inevitable.

Samad said the company was already creating awareness internally, employees had been informed of the change and had “embraced” it and look forward to the “new face” of the company.
