Our dishwasher empties intermittently. The reason appears to be that the non-return valve has broken between the flat piece and the disc, and the disc part is now partially blocking the drain pipe. It is proving very difficult to get it out the way it went in because of the restricted width of the slot and the diameter of the disc. Does anyone have any ideas, short of dismantling the whole thing? Thank you.

Just replace it. It simply lifts out. A 30 second fix. Part number 00165262

Thanks Martin, but the problem is that the old one broke in two in situ. The top half lifts out OK but the bottom half wasn’t attached to it, and it has fallen into the drain pipe. It’s getting the bottom half out that’s the issue.

Then simply attach the end of the drain hose onto the water tap and blast the bit of rubber flap valve back into the dishwasher tub! 😀

Aha, that might well work – we’ve tried blowing it back and it gets vertical (sometimes) but that’s it. But I can see that constant water pressure would be more effective than separate lungfuls of air. Will give it a try, thanks!

……or you can get even better, first time every time success blasting compressed air down the drain hose using one of these…
