ParticipantHi,
Our Tricity Sovereign 4638 seems to have developed a problem with the fan in the bottom oven. It’s very noisy and sometimes runs slow or stops. The other day we had smoke coming from the oven 😥 .
I took the back off the oven and fired some WD-40 into the fan motor (which is not accessible from inside the oven) a few months ago and that made it work better for a while, although I guess the hot temperatures have evaporated the WD-40 now.
I don’t think these fan motors are available any more (unless anyone knows otherwise?) Does anyone have a spare? I’ve replied to one other topic which suggested a 4638 might be broken for spares.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul…

Paul,
You will be able to get the fan motor. List price is £46.02 plus VAT + P&P. However as the majority of components for these machines are now obsolete, you may be sending good money after bad if something else fails in a few months time.Regards,

Thanks, Penguin….
I managed to find one of these motors this afternoon from Spares R Us for £39.95 inc. VAT + £1.40 p&p. I agree withyour thoughts about sending good money after bad, but we only need the oven to last until we build a new kitchen, so if £40 can tide us over until then, I’ll be a happy bunny!
While I think about it though, does anyone collect these obsolete machines for breaking? It might be a good business opportunity! 😉
Thanks,
Paul….

Go into “Search” in the header bar for this forum and type in 4638 – I think you will find two more active threads on the subject.

Not really.
In Zanussi’s range alone there are normally in excess of 150 models that can change on a 12-18 month cycle either internally or externally giving new model numbers etc. and on top of that there’s changes in production to internal spares denoted by serial or production code versions.
Now think how many brands are out there.
Get an idea of the scale of the problem? 😉
