Put my Bosch dishwasher on overnight as usual but got up this morning and it appeared to still be running making a sound like a pump running. Opened the door and the dishes were clean but the noise kept going. There is no sign of any water in the machine. The tap light on the control panel is flashing. Tried pressing the reset button for 3 seconds and the power button but no change. Turned it off at the mains and left it off all day but just doing the same when I switched it back on.

Any thoughts out there before I splash for an engineer?

    Thanks

The base tray ( underneath the dishwasher) is flooded and the flood safety switch has operated. The base needs draining of water and the reasons for the leak need to be established.

Using a dishwasher overnight has to be a big no no TBH. Thank goodness your machine has an anti-flood system otherwise you may have come downstairs in the morning to find the whole ground floor flooded???? 😉

So….to follow up on this. Turns out Martin was spot on and there was a small amount of water in the base tray that had triggered the anti flood device. The water was the consistency of soup and had clearly been there a long time. There was evidence of a leak from the back of the unit at the joint between the main washing cabin and the base unit underneath but again, it had clearly been there a long time. The engineer cleaned everything up, ran some sealant around the leaky joint and all seems well.

He charged me £38 which I thought was very reasonable. He was very critical of Bosch build quality from a supposedly premium make and said he would recommend Beko from a reliability/quality point of view.

Anyway problem solved, great forum and many thanks to Martin for his input…. 😀
