Went to a Hotpoint Washer WMFUG842P-UK “Smart-Tech” (3 months old) that would only do the following on any pgm setting

    (press START button)
    1. about 4 min pump-out (pump running ok, no blockages)
(no water coming in – supply is all ok)
    2. about 4 min gentle agitation
    3. reverts to pump-out for several minutes
    4. stops. No error messages.

Is this the module has failed, or is it some scenario indicating a component failure? Is there a test pgm for the module? Anyone experienced a similar thing?
    Help!
    Thanks.
PS: Hotpoint have told the customer it is her fault (?) and not covered by the warranty and she must buy their lousy insurance policy to get it fixed. Hard to believe but true….

When, how and why did they come to that conclusion? Have they called to inspect it?

    Hi Martin

She called them twice (she says) told them “it is not taking in water” and was told basically that “the water supply was not covered by the warranty. If you pay £50 and take out the insurance policy we will come out and sort it out”. She says she got really angry with them both times but the support person would not budge. My assumption would be that that these guys are on a commission basis to sell the insurance policy? It really sucks. In fact there is nothing wrong with the water supply. The PCB is not opening the valve! But customer could not know that.

Just to wrap up this thread.
The customer’s husband was a rather bad-tempered builder chappie. Very impatient. He just bought a new machine. Obviously has money to burn! I’m not sorry to be rid of him, but the wife was a genuinely nice person. Next time I’ll try renewing the pressure switch.
