I get small puddle of water on bottom right hand side below the front door each time we use the dishwasher. Additionally the RCD switch on main control panel trips part way through the wash cycle.
I suspected a problem with a lower door seal and replaced the seal. However during the replacement I noticed a small black ribbed pipe(approx 1am diameter) with extended from front right of door and bends 90 degrees and disappears on underside of the dishwasher is broken completely (one half hanging from translucent reservoir and other half in the underside of the dishwasher.

What is this pipe called? What is it function?
Any advice on its replacement is kindly appreciated.

It’s the vent pipe that is part of the translucent vent tube. Clearly it has broken and a new tube will have to be improvised as a replacement on its own us not available. It’s purpose it just to allow any water vapour to condense and drain into the base. On later models the dispenser was redesigned and that vent tube removed altogether.

As for the RCD tripping, then that a more serious issue and it may mean further investigation as to the cause. Was the base flooded? If so the electrics and main pump are very vulnerable to water damage. Take care when investigating, unplug first!!!

    Martin, for your prompt reply.

    1) Since the vent pipe is water vapour mainly can I improvise by fitting in slightly bigger pipe over the existing ends of the broken pipe and taping over the ends.

    2) Dishwasher base has not flooded.
    3) The RCD does not trip on every wash. It appears (from a small number of samples) that the chances of tripping during a late night wash cycle higher than when running the was cycle during day. Not sure if this information helps in diagnosing the fault. Wondering if the water vapour from the broken vent is contributing to the RCD tripping issue. Any thoughts?

Certainly can’t rule it out. Also those dispenser can leak rinse aid (if you use rinse aid that is?). It’s an old appliance so I wouldn’t be surprised.

In the trade we would check the earth resistance insulation of the motor, heater and so forth using a Megger. Without such a device finding an intermittent earth leak is a bit hit and miss at best.

    Good luck !
