ParticipantDon’t know if this has been covered before and if it has my apologies.
So we have all been there, giving the customer the bad news that their washing machine is not worth fixing and gone to washing machine heaven. Usually they ask which in my opinion is the best washing machine brand for them to buy.
From my experience i give them the following advice:
Premium/ King of all machines- Miele
Top of the range- Siemens/Bosch
Very Good- Whirlpool
Average- Hotpoint and Most Zanussi’s
Below Average- Some Zannusi’s, Beko
Poor- Flavel, Nordmende, Bush etc
So what brand would ye rank. Reasons why?September 2, 2015 at 10:46 am #429950robbra

I recommended Smeg before Bosch in the past year both for washers and dishwashers.
For budget it was Amica and even White Knight washers for price and they have been remarkably reliable over the past couple of years.
I didn’t sell one Hotpoint since Indesit took control and don’t think it was a bad decision,September 2, 2015 at 10:53 am #429951don

I Go about it in a slightly different way, but then I would 😀
Having found out what the customer needs and expects from a machine I start from the bottom up and telling them the cost as I go, more than not when you get to the price of Siemens machines they stop you there!!
So I go Beko, Montpellier good budget machines short life but prices from £159. Then Indesit, Hotpoint and Whirlpool prices from £249 life span approx six years. Bosch approx seven to eight and prices from £349. Siemens ( dressed up Bosch) prices from £469 life approx eight years and then the top of the tree Miele prices from £799 some have a ten year warranty.I find going customer expectations, price and lifespan works best for me.

I obviously know why, but it’s a shame manufacturers don’t let us know how many cycles they’re designed for, for example miele 10000 cycles then obviously going down and then people could work out for themselves there expectations and best machine for their budget.
And then perhaps they would start paying the extra because they know what they’re buying ain’t upto the job, and then perhaps start pushing prices and expectations go up along with repairs!
I know I’m dreaming.Optimistic Phil.

A number of people have been pushing for that Phil, myself included for a number of years.
Thus far it’s fallen on deaf ears.

We’ll all be shouting EBAC soon. A mad scramble to be agents/stockists. 😉

It surely can’t be any worse a bet than the rest of the bottom end to mid market.
I mean even Bosch have sealed tanks on machines retailing at £700 now and who’d have had thought that’d happen only a few years ago.

I had this reply from them when I emailed them in April;
Thank you for your email and your interest in our new washing machines.
We are in the process of finalising our distribution strategy for these appliances. We intend to sell through major retailers, direct and via independents partners which is inline with our current business strategy today.
For servicing we have a in house UK call centre team that will speak directly to customers and thenany servicing work we need completing will be out sourced to a national third party company on our behalf.

Yeah, so far as I know JTM/0800 Repair are doing the service work.
That may put a fly in the ointment for some.
