Candy cd622 water inlet overflowing

Hi, I’m new to this forum but I’ve found some of the previous posts really useful so I’m hoping someone will be able to help! I’ve recently replaced the motor on my dishwasher after finding the plastic was rubbing on the coil and creating resistance and noise, thus reducing the pressure. However I’ve now found that water is overflowing from the water inlet on the side of the machine. Water flows in fine initially but then the inlet seems to open fully, this seems to allow too much water in and this ends up filling the inlet casing and flows out of the overflow. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?
