Because no one wants to pay for quality. If you think about it a washing machine was £250 – £300 20 years ago now you can get them for £179.. something has to give.

bush £169.99 on offer in argos plus your £10 voucher for spending over £100 £159.99
take the cost of delivery from that £10-£15 2 men Plus fuel
    so say £145
Argos are here to make money so £20-£30 profit brings the price down to £115
    you get the point

You then have import tax’s then 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} vat. take out the travel cost and someone has to guarantee the machine for 1 or 2 years..

People will pay £49 per month for a mobile phone or sky but don’t want to spend money on an appliance. so that makes cheap euro Sh@#

White Knight make a decent compact dryer. So take heart there are plenty of examples of good cheap appliances on the market.

In fact almost the opposite applies these days in that if you buy expensive the built quality/durability is no better than the much cheaper brands.

Aren’t the Indesit IS41V and Hotpoint V4D01 pretty much the same machine? OK, the rear bearings might wear out more quickly and the capacitors might not be as stable, but I bet a handful of these current models will still be around in 30 years time.

Did a Hotpoint v4 the other day only about 18mnths old,bra wire causing dead short from element to cabinet, removed, tested all working no damage to anything, the new ones just removing the elements cause them to fall apart!same old design from the past working well
