    Hi,

I have a problem with my fridge freezer whereas the freezer is cold and the fridge is just warm. This is Zanussi, model is ZRB324NWB.

I have done the following trouble shooting:

    1) Checked the fan is working properly (opened the fridge doors and pressed the button which activated the fan) – seems no issue.

    2) Defrosted the freezer compartment. However, prior to defrosting I was able to remove the plastic cover which was covering the coils and did not see any significant ice build up at all. That said I went on to fully drain down any water/ice from it.

    3) The air flow is not constrained because I used a hairdryer to additionally dry the air ducts and the air flows freely.

    4) I put some tape over the small holes that let the cold air into the freezer and I managed to get some air flowing to the fridge (albeit only through one, upper hole). This is a bit of an intermediate solution though, as clearly the air in this case it not flowing properly to the freezer.

I will get a multimeter this evening to check for any faults:

    – the freezer temperature fuse
    – defrost thermostat
    – refrigerator thermostat

Is there anything else anyone can imagine could have gone wrong?

I was reading about the possibility of fridge freezer defrost timer, but I am inclined to discount this possibility as this apparently results in high ice build up and I had nearly no ice at all.

I assume it is not gas, as otherwise the freezer would not be working either? But I may be wrong.

Any other solutions would be very welcome. Thanks!

By way of an update for future reference of those who are interest… It seems like the freezer defrost thermostat is broken.

When I used the multimeter in the plug I get no movement on the dial screen at all. There is a reaction on the screen when I touch both metal wires from the multimeter and when I test the plugs from other parts (refrigerator thermostat and the freezer temperature fuse).

Final update… The fridge is fixed – it was indeed the freezer defrost thermostat that was broken. For reference to others who may not know how to check the individual parts with the multimeter, the following video is very clear:
