Why do all my dishes and cups taste salty? Never had instruction manual, gave up trying to get one from MFI. I’ve turned the salt dial to 1 but hasn’t made any difference. Have to rinse them before use. Its a Diplomat that came with my MFI kitchen. Would be most grateful for any advice.
    Thanks

Where in the country do you live Joanna, what model is it you’ve got and what salt are you using?

Do check carefully the Salt Container Screw Cap 😉 .

Remove and clean its rubber gasket, screw the cap back in place but do not overtighten. Set your machine just to do a ‘Pre-rinse’ cycle as that will flush away any excess salt residue. Hopefully problem solved thereafter 8)

Thanks both. I dont know what the model is, it just says Diplomat on the top edge of the door. I live near Chepstow. I was using waitrose bog standard dishwasher salt. Martin, I will try what you suggest. Heres hoping.

…and if that doesn’t work then you will need an engineer to clean the salt valve seat on the softener, and if that doesn’t cure it then it will need a new softener unit 🙁

    Hi Joanna,

The model number is normally down the side of the door on a little plate there with the serial number etc.

You’d need that to get an instruction book as well, without it MFI (or anyone else) won’t be able to offer too much help. 😉

Thanks for advice. I have cleaned gasket and filler cap and replaced tightly and it seems much improved. Thanks. It is diplomat ADP 8242 so where can I get an instruction manual?

    Hi joanna,

    Great, glad it all helped.

You should be able to get a manual for an 8242 from MFI without too many problems.
