    Hi All, Can any of you familiar with Neff gas hobs, especially the 60cm 4 burner Gas Hob model T2546N0gb/02, throw any light on the intermittent fault that has occurred recently with the wok burner.

    What happens is that the burner lights as normal but, if left on full, it burns normally for 8 – 10 seconds then switches off.

    Curiously, if it is turned down before it switches off, it doesn’t switch off. Furthermore, if it is then slowly turned up to full, it doesn’t switch off.

    Any thoughts???

    Dunno which hob exactly you have there as you have given us the wrong model number. But it could be that the flame groove adjacent the thermocouple device is blocked? Check when it cools to see if it is fully clean and clear and that it is seated correctly.

    Model number is fine, the attached drawing may help Martin explain further.

    Anything DIY outside of this we cannot advise on. This would then fall into the remit of a Gassafe engineer in the interest of consumer safety.

    The flame groove appears to be clean but it’s not seated next to the thermocouple but the ignition spark. The gas never lights at all if the groove is seated next to the thermocouple. Should it?

    The fact that the gas cuts out when on full a few seconds after ignition suggests to me a problem with the thermocouple. However I cannot understand, if the problem is with the thermocouple, why the gas is not cut off when it’s turned down to the point where the outer outer ring is just on and then turned up fully.

    One other thing I observed is that, if the control knob is turned fully anti-clockwise after the burner ignites such that only the inner ring is lit, the outer ring does not re-light when the control knob is turned clockwise. Is this significant?
