    hi folks ..i have a hopoint WMA46 ..went to do a wash today everything ok till it came to spin ..it sounded like it was going through motions but sounded like something was catching on the drum there was no spin at all …so i ended program and got soaking washing out took back and top off to see if it was anything obvious couldn’t see anything ..put washer on a spin cycle with nothing in .. and it spun and spun and spun …as i was looking underneath i could see blue sparks coming out from behind the motor (that was the tapping noise it was fair arching ) turned washer upside down and the sparks were coming out of a white plastic cover covering a brass/copper spring with a plate on the bottom which appears to be loose i located it best i could just to see put white cover back on turned washer on fast spin no sparks or noise put the pump kicks in but it wont spin at all …is it knackered thank you in advance

    The motor brushes need replacing.

    You didn’t really turn it ‘upside down’ did you? :boops:

    You get a better view of the motor that way I expect. 😉
