My Bosch Exxcel Maxx KGU31165GB began last week to flash the temperature lights for both the fridge and freezer while making a buzzing noise once per second. Opening and closing the freezer door made it back to normal though the freezer began to warm up, though the fridge remained cool.
I switched it off for 36 hours and made sure everything was unblocked, and tested the freezer fan, which worked.
Now on restarting the compressor cuts in for a few seconds before a click when it stops and all the lights go out. Then a click and they’re back on, followed by the compressor after 20 seconds.
The fridge appears to be cooling again but not the freezer.
I’m guessing a pcb or thermostat fault, or low on gas? Can anyone help? Thanks.Re: Bosch Exxcel Fridge freezer not cooling fault
Well in the abscence of any reply I took a chance with this and replaced the PCB module. The Bosch KGU module is 00495141 which I managed to get for £54 delivered from Amazon. This seems to have cured the fault. In the meantimne I resoldered all the connections on the old board but the fault remained; in any case I didn’t want to take a chance with repairing it in case it failed while on holiday etc.
£54 was a risk to spend on an approximately 9 year old appliance (7.5 years ago I paid £100 for it secondhand) but in the event I figured it would be easier than me messing about sourcing a replacement and, given that it worked, was a cheap fix.
By the way putting a thermometer in the freezer with the fault showed the freezer was actually heating up to hotter than ambient. Worth noting if anyone has this fault.
