ParticipantMy Beko CDA539FW Frost Free fridge-freezing isn’t freezing or cooling, it was blowing warm air into the freezer, with all food totally defrosted. Seems that it just stopped freezing/cooling. It’s actually in good condition so I don’t really want to replace it, trying repair it myself, cost of calling out a service person to tell me how much more it’s going to cost, could be a lot of -unknown- cost that could go towards a new Freezer and Fridge units. I did a multi-meter continuity test on all the pins of the compressor and each to earth and it’s not dead. After doing some online research I changed the KLIXON (overload) switch as it was constantly switching on and off every few minutes and the part rattled suggesting it was broken… What next the thermostat in the top of the fridge? I’ve taken that unit out and tested it, it doesn’t appear broken. It doesn’t click as you rotate it – unless it’s to click to switch off the fridge-freezer at the end of the range. I was told the relay is now out of production. So I’m not sure what’s broken? Is it the compressor, if it is then that’s the end of the line really cost wise.
Any suggestions or next steps?

If the compressor was running for a few seconds then cutting out, the compressor is faulty and as it is an older appliance it is beyond economical repair.

I guess it’s hard to accept (it has been for me) that a unit that looks all over in really good condition (as new) is beyond economic repair, I wouldn’t mind I spent £30 getting new freezer draw front panels earlier this year as they were cracked and then split. Add in the KLIXON relay and that’s £45, the third of the price of a new low cost Fridge or Freezer. Thanks for confirming it’s the compressor and beyond reasonable economic repair.
