ParticipantI have a Liebherr CL 1650 79.682.478.1
The ice maker did not make ice so I took the whole unit out. It had ice in the tray, but had not ejected any ice for a while. The level sensing arm was up, and I thought that it had to be down.
So I took the motor/gearbox apart and tried to figure out how it works. Did not see anything amiss. Put everything back together, and re-installed.
Because I did not have the tray in the horizontal position when I reinstalled everything, the tray moved to vertical and then returned to the horizontal. At the same time, the level sensing arm went down and then returned to the up position.
By the next day, one tray of ice was made and ejected into the ice drawer. The level sensing arm stays up, while making (trying to) ice.
So after 3 days, I have not gotten any more ice. The tray is full of ice, but the mechanism does not eject it into the drawer.
What am I missing here?
Please help
Thank you

Dietmar, the arm is normally in the up position. At the beginning of the harvesting process, the arm comes down and then goes back up. It comes down to check the amount of ice in the bin.
If the arm can’t fully travel all the way down, then no ice is harvested.
Is the magnet in place in the top of the ice bin? The icemaker needs the magnet in order to harvest ice.October 13, 2015 at 10:47 pm #430924Dietmar

I am not sure where the top of the ice bin, where you mean.
At the bottom of where the water sits, before ice is made, under the tray, I guess, is two wires that go under a piece of foam, between the foam and the tray. Is this the magnet? If so, yes it is there. If the magnet is above the rotating tray, then I did not see it.
Thanks for the update on the arm. Yes it stays in the up position, only coming down when the tray rotates, then returns to the up position.October 14, 2015 at 7:35 am #430925ELDAR59

hello again dietmar. the magnet is on the icebin that collects the ice when it has been dropped out of the icemaker tray.
it is found on the top of the bin in the middle.October 20, 2015 at 9:14 pm #430926Tony R

I suspect your issue could be the sensor, which is the thin wires you can see attached to the bottom of the ice mould.
The sensor will start the harvest at around -10c.
To check the mould is not damaged activate the ice maker in it’s service mode.
1 remove ice drawer
2 turn off the ice maker ( light off )
3 press and hold on/off button until light flashes rapidly release button
4 the unit will enter the harvest mode by moving the arm down and then twisting the ice mould, the made ice should then eject, the mould returns to it’s normal position and the water valve opens to refill the mould.
5 replace the ice drawer and the light will stop flashing and remain on
if all this happens, sensor fault.October 21, 2015 at 2:12 am #430927Dietmar

this fridge is in my mother’s flat, and I will try that later this week, when I have to go there.
I will post results.November 21, 2015 at 11:32 pm #430928Dietmar

I did as you suggested in above post. It passed that test.
I finally was able to take the ice maker home. Took out that sensor under the ice tray, and I put my ohm meter on it. At room temp and at freezer temp (in a block of ice, 0F, 18C) there was not any continuity.
So I think that you are right, I need a new sensor for the bottom of that ice tray.
Do you know if they are all the same? Do you have a part #?
My fridge is a CL 1650
Thank you

Hi Dietmar,
You will need to order a 9590151, this will be 2 cradles one of which will only be needed ( depending on power plug connection ) and a new mould with sensor attached.
This kit does not include the drive motor or PCB, which will need to be removed from the original cradle, for use in the new cradle.

Thank you Tony
When I input 9590151 into ukwhitegoods, I see two cradles and the arm, not the tray with the sensor.
And that is quite a price for all of that.
I believe I only need the sensor that is attached to the underside of the tray.
Could I not just purchase the sensor, by itself?
Thank you

Hi Dietmar,
As posted the kit comes with 2 cradles only one will be used depending on connection of power plug and design, the new mould, mould caps and sensor are all in the kit 9590151.There are changes to the kit from the original so the new cradle and supplied parts must be fitted, the only parts you use from your old ice maker is the power board and drive motor with lever, these parts DO NOT NEED TO BE BOUGHT.
The picture in parts section does show all parts supplied in the kit.
The price is as it is, at this time you cannot just fit a new sensor, the new kit needs to fitted, if issues arise in the future then you can buy separate parts.

Tony.November 27, 2015 at 5:12 am #430932Dietmar

ParticipantI have a similar problem with my Liebherr 3366-20C fridge. however when I run the suggested test, the process ends with the on/off light flashing what seems to be a pattern of 3 flashes, which remains until I press and hold the on/off switch. Before I look to replace the ice tray assuming it is a sensor fault does this flashing sequence indicate a different fault.

ParticipantHi Dave, did you insert your drawer after the test, or press the button again, if you pressed the button you are now in the water fill time mode, if you push the drawer in and out the flashes change one flash at a time up to a maximun of 8 flashes, the normal setting is 3-4 flashes.

ParticipantTried pushing drawer in it had no effect on the flashing light. It appears that on closer inspection I had lost the magnet on the drawer, which was causing the problem all a long. Did not know that the silver section in the centre of the drawer front was in fact a magnet. Currently have other drawer in place and ice maker working fine.
Thanks for your help, have ice back again and did not have to purchase and expensive ice tray. Only need to find supplier for new magnet, or move the one from the other drawer.

ParticipantHi Tony, I have a Liebherr SBSes 7273. I replaced the broken ice maker tray but the unit won’t start producing ice again. Maybe I lost the magnet as well. Do you have a picture or something to show where it should be?
Kind regards
