Hi,
First of all, thanks in advance for any assistance anyone is able to give.
I foolishly bought an Indesit IWDE7125 B EU washer dryer from the UK and shipped it to Montreal as washer dryer all in one units are extremely rare here, especially 230 volt versions and they have to be specially ordered.
I had a 230 volt UK plug and supply fitted in my apartment, plugged the machine in and the dryer works perfectly. The washer errors out F01 which I know means electronics failure in motor circuit.
What I did not check was the Hz rating of the supply. We’re 60Hz here in Montreal and the UK is 50Hz. I checked the motor and it is dual rated for 50 / 60 Hz use.
So the conclusion of the washing machine repair guy that came over is that the PCB is recognizing that the machine is drawing 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} too much current than the PCB is programmed for and therefore ends the cycle 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} early and errors out.
Researching this machine, I see Indesit did the identical model for the Philipines market which is a 230 volt 60Hz machine with a model number of IWDE7125 B EX.
My question is. Do I have any options to get this machine working on a 60Hz supply like having the PCB software reprogrammed with the Philipines model software, replacing the PCB, getting a transformer, replacing other parts or have I just made an expensive $1200 mistake and this machine will never work here.
Indesit customer service could not advise me as they only give advice if the machine is being used in the UK.
Any help, as I say would be greatly appreciated. I’ve got this machine stuck in my hallway and my girlfriend is starting to get annoyed at its presence there.

Hi,
I see this on occasion with boats strangely, ranging from large yachts to proper ships where they are often kitted out with a 110V or 230V 60Hz supply.
The short answer, which won’t be what you want to hear is, it’s a nightmare that would be best avoided to begin with.
Some machines will run on 50Hz, some won’t.
You generally get issues with the electronics, as I think you have but also with the motors or anything induction, so pump and motor in that machine and possibly the fan motor as well unless they’re dual rated. To be honest, I’m surprised that they are as most aren’t.
But, even if you got it to recognise the voltage which, I doubt you will without changing the board (near impossible on these without the programer as well as the program) you’d probably still have an issue with the drain pump.
Changing the machines from one supply to another these days is, at best, difficult but often not economically viable if even possible.

Thanks for the reply. The machine is designed for 50Hz running on a UK supply and we have 60Hz here. The reason we know it is a software problem is that if you take the lid off the machine and run it manually, it runs, spins, drains and completes the cycles – I was that curious that I stood over the machine running the motor manually to see if it would work. It just won’t when the PCB is in control.
