ParticipantHi,
We have a Zanussi zkc6040x which has been intermittently cutting out when both hob and oven are on.Returning after cooling down.
It stopped and we thought the problem had resolved itself, however tonight it has returned and unlike previously it has not come back yet.
When it cuts out, the fans continue to work and the Hot Hob warning light stays on, but no clock, hobs and no ovens.I suspect a faulty Safety Cut Out Switch.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Justin

HI Justin,
There’s five variants of that machine, do you have the PNC number please?
Instructions on locating that are here:

There’s good reason we tell people not to trust manuals, only the rating plate as, that gets you down to three possibilities…

Hi K,
It was a sticker taken off the unit when installed that was in the Manual, only other detail is Serial Number.
Will the plate on the cooker have the Production Date on it?

It will have the serial number usually and it’s buried in that. But, that should have the full PNC number also that saves the need.
I had a look but there are variations on the thermostats and fan motor used by the looks of it so guessing wouldn’t be a wise thing to do.

Hi K,
The oven has the same sticker on the back of it that is in the manual.
The only other sticker on the oven is right next to the oven seal and has consequently rubbed off the writing!what I can read is of the sticker:
serial: 93201528
pnc: 948904212I have attached a pic of the other rubbed off sticker.
It looks like the product number ends in 01? 948901528 01?justin..

Okay, we’ll assume 01 as it looks like that.
Top choices are…
Cooling fan motor stalling/dodgy, which is common and this is it:
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/33706730 … -fan-motor
There’s a cheaper one in the related items as well.
Now it gets a bit weird.
There’s two thermal cut outs, one for upper and one for the lower oven and then a cut in of the cooling fan. But the diagrams don’t show where they are very well, looks as if you need to strip off the hob top to get to them though.
The main oven one, 3115190005, is rarely used, like virtually never.
The one marked for the top oven is fairly commonly used, this one:
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/oven-thermal-cutout
The fan initiation stat, 3115190112, is again not common to fail, very low use on that one also.
So the only way you’ll be able to figure that lot out is to open up the cooker and test them to see which one is the issue, if it is one of the stats of course.
Hope that helps.

That’s great info. Thanks.
I guess it’s a simple multi-meter test to find out the problematic one?..
The top oven is hardly ever used, it always falls over when the bottom one is on with a hob also. And the cooling fan stays on when it fails.
Also, It has still yet to come back to life since the failure yesterday!

Yup, if memory serves how to test them is here:
https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/spa … stats.html
They all do that if it gets too hot but, it could be getting to hot if the cooling fan isn’t doing what it should.

Just so you can see, all three stats are shown as item 2 on here.
So I’m guessing that they’re all in the same place or thereabout (I’ve never been inside one of those models) and it looks like they’re around that top oven cavity somewhere but, it is a generic drawing so there’s only one way to know for sure.
