    Hello,

Can someone help me please. A friends’ Bendix dishwasher isn’t draining the water away. I cannot get access to the drain pump to see if there is a blockage/jam. The unit from the underneath seems to be one sealed affair apart from the circulation pump. What is the correct way of accessing the drain pump? Machine details are:
    Mod BDW 53
    Type 911N81-1F
    PNC 911831521
    SN 24360979

Reversing motor Conor. You can access it from the top by unscrewing the centre column which the bottom rotor mounts on; or you can pull the whole motor assembly from the back, via the rear access panel. Be warned that this is the one with the plastic drive shaft which cracks – only available as a complete motor if it’s gone.

    Welcome on board BTW.

    Regards,
    Chris.

    Chris,
Thanks for the reply and welcome note.
Q: When you say reversing motor, do you mean the circulation pump IS the drain pump when it operates in reverse? I removed the bottom rotor mounting and cover from over the impellor. It is rotating and pushing water thru’ the rotor during a wash program. But the machine still won’t drain.
Q:Am I correct in assuming a pump-out occurs at the start of every wash programme? I removed a piece of plastic from the sump but still no draining.
Q:What should I be looking for now? More plastic caught further down the drain maybe? If so, do I have to remove the motor via rear panel?

Yes, it’s a reversing motor in these Conor and the drain thing is a known issue.

You could try replacing the impellors (sort of a kit) as that sorts most of them, otherwise it’s a new motor complete.

    Part numbers:

    Impellors assembly 50273512009
    Circ/drain pump complete 50273511001

    Conor,
If you have removed the cover in the sump, you will notice that there are two impellors – one is for circulation, the other for drain. If you follow the channels, you can work out the flow paths. Personally, I’d pull the motor anyway in order to check the condition of the shaft.

The other possibility (as I have found to my cost) is that the motor simply doesn’t get up to speed when running in reverse – new motor time. Not too bad, it’s under £60 from memory.

And yes, the programmes start with a drain sequence.

    Regards,
    Chris.

Hi Electrue do a non gen pmp9004 as Penguin says remove motor its easier that way I’ve replaced a few of these motors as it does not seem to run fast enough to drain all the water out but washer fine
