Its me again, trying to keep my Hotpoint Aquarius Dishwasher DF62 alive.

The problem is it does not fill will water after the first fill of the cycle is discharged. To make it work, I start it, let the initial pump out take place, then hand add boiling water to the machine and re start.

So I took the left hand side off, thinking it was clogged up with gunk/fat etc and took the float assembly apart to clean it. Part of this is some kind of latex diaphragm which inflates as the water level rises presumably then tripping the switch to stop filling.

Is it possible to replace this part and what part number is it C00210673? I found it on a couple of other sites fro £41.09 plus postage. I also found A Bosch one that looks exactly the same for £20.49.

I am also wondering if I could/should squirt some WD40 inside the diaphragm to stop it sticking but I suspect it is just not as flexible as it was when new.

On re assembly, the dishwasher now fills, then pumps out some and fills again. It seems the diaphragm is not stuck in the on position after my messing about!

    Any thoughts and advice please.

The transfer pipe between the fill matrix and the sump is blocked. The part you refer to is working as it should.

So is what is in the picture part of what you refer to as the matrix?
And the pipe from it goes to the sump.
I take it the sump is where the water is under the silver foil filter in the bottom of the machine when you open the door?

    OK A little help!
I’ve taken the pipe off the matrix thingy. The pipe is part number 000265 and 170200 d and it wasnt blocked at all.
    Did you mean something else.
can anyone help me as I am getting pressure from err indoors to fix it or buy a new one today!

Well I’ve put it all back together now and the Diaphragm switch seems to be functioning as it should. All the pipes are clear – not that any were even partially obstructed.

May just have to be resinged to adding hot water to beigin with then draining each time to ensure full cycle works.

Please have a little patience, most of the trade members who give their free, valuable help and advice are doing so if and when they can find the time during their own working day.

Re: Hotpoint Dishwasher Aquarius DF62 Diaphragm Question.

The only reason for it filling/draining/filling /draining is due to the water being restricted from entering the tub. Now the microswitch attached to the diaphragm you illustrate controls the fill. The float microswitch alongside operates the drain pump. And it is that float bobbing up and down operating it’s microswitch that gives you the effect you experience and not the diaphragm microswitch. I am convinced there is a restriction in that transfer pipe or perhaps the fine mess drain filter in the tub is silted up causing back flow of water?

Re: Hotpoint Dishwasher Aquarius DF62 Diaphragm Question.

OK Iadom I realise how forums work, I do run my own and appreciate the help given by others. It was just that I had the thing in bits and if there was anyone who knew then it would have been a good time.

    Martin,
I have watched it work through a cycle with the side cover off. The diaphragm switch is actually working OK (for the time being?). The red float switch did not operate although it does work so that’s fine.
The pipe it connects to is clear.

Now in the machine (where the plates go) I removed the silver mesh filter and the cylinder one. Both were clean anyway a few bits but OK.
I drained the sump of water by hand. On the right had side there is a hole about he size of the pipe. Although I cant see into it, I could feel a plastic obstruction and a cone pointing into the machine (not towards the pipe) It occurs to me that this may have a very small inlet hole, to stop slurping of the water triggering the drain pump perhaps) and it could be this that may have some bits or fat in it that got passed the filter(s). Perhaps that is why it always works fine after pouring boiling water in it.

Quite how I can clean this I am not sure. I might try some kitchen Mr Muscle and a small stiff paint brush or toothbrush.

Actually I’ve just push my finger in and this feels like some sort of impellor for a pump as is there on the other side of the sump.

Re: Hotpoint Dishwasher Aquarius DF62 Diaphragm Question.

It’s the inlet to the main circulating pump and with a torch and angled mirror you should see inside to make sure there’s nothing blocking the impeller. If that impeller is blocked that could account for the fill-drain problems because when the diaphragm switch operates that pump immediately fires up and any adverse ‘back-flow’ of water would trigger the drain pump/float microswitch.

    I’ve got it happening again.
Thanks for your help I will check that this time.
It was OK for a year and thanks to this forum I’ve kept the dishwasher alive for nearly four more years.
Nearing the end I feel though!
