Hi – noticed that the fan (left hand) oven was not getting as hot as it should. Looked like the top outer ring element was hot, but the inner ring was not.
Took the top element out and one of the inner ring element terminals looked a little black, as did about an inch of the electrical wire at the contact point.
Is this usual in a blown element, or could it be another electrical problem?

Also, is it possible to do a continuity test with these grill/oven elements with four terminals (and earth), as the two rings are joined by the metal cross brackets for fixing to the oven roof?

    Any advice/help much appreciated.

Yup, the inner terminal (- Earth) are the inner element, outer the outer element. So, meter across them will tell you if they are open circuit or not.

It does sound like the element is failed though.

    K.
