The dryer recently started tripping the main breaker in the house, and it seemed as if it might be the heater element at fault. it would run for a few minutes only before tripping, but if left for a few days it would run a little longer before tripping, as if there may be a moisture problem on the electrics.
I have just replaced the heater and took the opportunity to have a look around inside the machine to see if there was any evidence of water getting where it shouldn’t. It seemed ok.
I started the machine with some damp clothes in it. It ran for about 25 minutes (much longer than previously) then once again tripped the breaker.
The serial number of the machine is 310306484.
I am wondering if it may be the timer, or is there another fault I could be tracing?
My girlfriend is getting a little frustrated with the situation so any help to earn some brownie points would be gratefully appreciated.

Changing parts on the off chance it might fix it is not the way to proceed. Whenever a machine is tripping the circuit breakers then a full inspection of all components for insulation leaks with a suitable multimeter or better still a megger is the only way to go, throwing parts at a machine is rarely successful .These machines are known to throw water onto the heater if the large condensor is not cleaned on a very regular basis. Also the channel and small drain hole at the very back of the condensor chamber can get clogged up.

Usually a good blast with a hair dryer is all that is needed on the element.

Ive got the same condenser dryer which is the subject of a recall. However my problem is that water does not seem to be reaching the tank at the top of the machine and water is leaking from the bottom. Is there a small outlet at the back of the condenser which takes the water up to the tank ?

    Hi Cabot

Leave it alone until Hpt carry out the modification and advise you want it repaired under warranty while they are there..Somehow I don’t think that they will argue much about it.
